The proposed cordwood masonry walls will be 16” thick with roughly 5” of mortar at either side containing an 6” air space which will be filled with sawdust and lime insulation. The log ends are peeled and dried white spruce which vary in diameter between 1 – 12”. Lomax corners will be built from 4”x4” roughcut lumber and windows and doors will be framed with 5"X6" timbers. The mortar is a mixture of portland cement, mason's lime, sand, and soaked sawdust.
